Questions & Answers for bareMinerals Redness Remedy

Question

How is this different from the mineral foundation I use to cover the redness?

I'm curious why I would need another product. The BE mineral foundation powder covers the red.

Like you, I also used other Bare Minerals products to cover the redness. This product is different in that it helps to CALM your skin and FADE the redness. I use it at night after washing and moisturizing, AND UNDER my foundation during the day. My redness has visibly diminished. Also, I found that the amount of foundation I needed to use really lessened, because the redness was covered more effectively with less of the Redness Remedy product than the amount of foundation I previously had to use in order to achieve the same redness coverage. My makeup looks lighter and more natural as a result. I love my Bare Minerals makeup and will never stop using it. However, when it comes to redness issues, this product covers MUCH more effectively AND takes the redness away. I am so happy I tried it!!

Cathlynn--this product minimizes the appearance of the redness which doesn't make it show thru as much once you put on the foundation.

Redness Remedy is for those who are having that severe redness to their skin. If you find that the mineral foundation is doing fine for you, then stick to that and you will be fine. The Redness Remedy can be used alone for redness coverage while giving you a flawless look at the same time or you can use it over your makeup for touch ups through the day. You don't have to get the Redness Remedy...it's just an alternative product to use.

Check out md formulations for facial products that can help your redness for those days that you don't want or need to wear makeup and perhaps you can focus more on your skin ailments. For example you may wear makeup to work or to a social event. But on the weekends that's your time to relax, so you remove all the makeup from your face and allow your face to breath which is always a great idea. Use this "off day" from makeup to focus on using the BE products from md formulations to help with your redness.

I have Golden Dark skin, I have combo skin and it's sensitive. BE products has helped even out my skin tone and has bettered my skin. I have depression, obesity, a two year old and dark circles under my eyes from lack of sleep since I have to be to work at 4:30am three days a week...and I'm 26. Plus I try to swim three times a week doing 500 meter swims in less than a half hour. So my overall self has been helped from just makeup. I hope BE products continue to help you the way it has helped me!

Dear Cathlynn,
Boy, do I envy you! It sounds as though you don't have Rosacea or any reddening problem, so you probably don't need any additional product!

If your BE mineral foundation covers the redness, then by all means, do not buy this. The Redness Relief product was made for people with rosacea who find the regular BE foundation does not cover all the redness.

The mineral foundation covers the redness well but this covers it better and it also has lasting results. Since I began to use this 2 weeks ago, the redness that I have had for years has lessened and I am using 1/2 as much foundation. I use it under my makeup like a concealer and then before bedtime to take advantage of the long term benefits. Give it a try.

yes Bare Minerals does cover the red, however this treats the red. After 1 week I have no redness and broken capalaries have significantly deminiished. So if you treat the redness you use less foundation and we all know less is more....

This is intended to reduce the redness over time. The foundation just covers/conceals the redness and doesn't do anything to prevent it.

It does both. The tint of the powder will help reduce redness in the short term. (I apply after primer, before foundation). This product works best in the long run. Instructions say to apply in the morning and evening. It is a treatment that is intended to be used over time to reduce redness. This treatment has helped me decrease the amount of foundation I need,

I have been using it and it is not a lightener. It actually heals the redness and with the titanium dioxide, it protects from all the environmental things like the cold, heat and sun that irritate and inflame this kind of skin condition. This product is natural and I would recommend it in a heart beat. The price is right and I have had incredible results with it. Hope that helps!

I have rosacea and I've noticed a huge difference in my skin. The redness has calmed down so much after only one week of use. I use it everyday, morning and night, after I cleanse and moisturize. I can't wait to see what it does with continued use. Rosacea is so different for everyone. Products that work for one person don't always work for another. It's definitely worth a try even if you dont have rosacea. I love this product.

It doesn't just cover up pimples, it actually makes them go away. If you can use it early enough where you feel a pimple coming, but don't see it yet, it can actually even prevent it from turning into a full pimple. It works really really well, I love it. It doesn't actually cover up pimples all that well though, i usually use my regular Bare Minerals foundation as a concealer, I find that works better.

I also wear Mineral Veil under my foundation to control that oily look. I have tried using Mineral Veil and then Redness Remedy and vice versa. Both methods work, but I like using the Redness Remedy first just a little better. Then brush on a little foundation and your other products and you're ready to go!

Dear ChrisH,
I don't have any problem with oiliness myself, but BE has a product called Prime Time Foundation Primer for oily Skin. I use the regular version of Prime Time, and then use the Reness Remedy. After that I apply the Foundation and Clear Radiance. Some time ago, I also used Mineral Veil both before and after the Foundation, but with the products I'm using now I find I don't need it. But the Prime Time Foundation Primer for Oily Skin might be just the thing for you.
Hope this helps.

Since you have oily skin I would suggest trying the Prime Time Oil Control. It absorbs oil like you wouldn't believe! I get very oil skin from time to time myself I switch back & forth from regular Prime Time to Oil Control.

Other than that theres a few things you can do in regards to the Redness Remedy.
Make sure your cleansing with a good facial cleanser made for your skin type before makeup application.
Use a oil free moisturizer. Let you skin relax for a few minutes before you move on to makeup.
Use the BE Prime Time Oil Control & let absorb into your skin. You can use the Mineral Veil now to set the primer but I think you'll be fine with out it if you use the Oil Control primer. Try it both ways & see what works best but the Redness Remedy will stick to the primer better if you dont use the Mineral Veil first.
Now use the Redness Remedy. I switch back & forth between the Maximum Concealer brush & the brush provided in the kit. Just like any BE product make sure your buffing it well in to your skin. As with all other BE products I warm it up before applying to the skin by swirling it in the cap. This both warms up the product & also gets it worked into the brush bristles to ensure even coverage.
Since somedays Im more or less red, I start off light & build up to the coverage I want.
Then I use a the Bisque or just my foundation.
On bad redness days, after I apply my foundation before I set with Mineral Veil, I go back over the red areas with the Redness Remedy & the Maximum concealer brush but when I do this I use a very light hand & minimal product.
Now use Mineral Veil to set.

Best advice I can give is try it different ways & see what works best for you. But definitely try the Oil Control primer. It was a GOD SEND for me when it came out!

If you use any kind of moisterizer apply after that. Make sure you do use moisterizer it will keep your skin from producing more oil because you are drying it out. Bare Minerals moisterizer is great. I have a very oily T-zone and sensative skin and it works great for me.

When I went to the boutique near me the person who I had worked with my last visit to the store had me apply the primer before she applied the redness remedy. The way I do it is I first clense and mosturize my face. Once the mosturizer is absorbed I then put on the primer. After the primer I apply the redness remedy. Once I'm done buffing on the redness remedy I then start my foundation.

I was told at the Bare Escentuals store that the order goes:
1.Primer
2.Founation
3.Redness Remedy-apply it with that neat little brush that came with it
4.Foundation (not heavy, just to smooth everything out)

Dear slamb,
After cleansing and moisturizing, I apply Prime Time Foundation Primer. Then I use the Redness Remedy. Following that I put on the Foundation (Fairly Light in my case). I following with just a bit of Clear Radiance. Viola!
This is what works for me, and I hope this information helps you.

I use this product every day under my makeup when I notice redness or I know I will probably have redness issues such as being in a warm environment or when I know I'm going to imbibe in alcohol. I just apply sparingly and it helps warm up my complexion without looking over done.

The product's yellowish color tones down redness, so I think you could just use it when you feel you need it. I personally like to use it every day, but my skin is always pretty red across my nose and cheeks. You sound like your skin is MUCH better than mine. Don't be afraid to experiment a little. I'm sure you will figure out what works best for you after a week or two.

I know that the old formula worked well. I would apply it daily until no redness showed, then stop for three to four weeks. I never broke out during that time. Then I would continue to use it once a week. I haven't seen blemishes or breakouts yet. As for the new formula, I just started to test it, but I know that when they changed their formulas for other products, they turned out great, so we'll see.

Dear Texas,
The Redness Remedy is for application at the time one makes up before beginning the day. As far as I know, this is not the type of product that reduces redness over time,
so it its effects are not enhanced in any way by wearing it at night.

Bare Escentuals are a natural product and the ingredients are active so they're always working with your skin versus against it so for that reason alone is where the price of the product is set the way it is. If you think about it, the brush that comes with the Redness Remedy is probably worth the price of the redness remedy with the brush. So instead of almost 60 dollars, they're setting the price to $27. It's like getting the remedy for redness and getting the brush, which has a dual use to it, for free. It's nice because the extra brushes you have you could always use as a backup brush for your redness remedy powder, or for mineral veil which requires a sheer coverage of it or even let a friend use it to inspire them to use Bare Minerals just based on the natural qualities of the brush itself.

If all else fails you can contact a BE rep and see what they may suggest you can do to help.

The brush included is not angled. It is more like the flawless application brush, but perhaps with a little more coverage. If you don't suffer from redness, I think you would be better off looking at the full line of Bare Minerals face brushes; there are angled brushes there.
