Questions & Answers for bareMinerals Mineral Veil - Original

Question

Is there a specific way to put on any mineral veil?

i've been checking the "get the look" sections and it always says to put on the mineral veil last. i've done this several times but for some reason i think it takes off or smudges whatever i have already on (eyeshadow, foundation, all over colors). what i want to know is if anyone else puts on the mineral veil after foundation and put on anything else just right on top.

After I do all of my makeup, mineral veil is meant to lock in your overall look. I dust lightly over my forehead, nose, cheeks and chin and usually this will do it. Here are a list of brushes to use to be sure you achieve a veil look to love:

Buff and Go Brush
Soft Focus Face Brush
Flawless Application Brush

If something smudges, like the eyeshadow, etc.) you could always reapply it. I haven't had to reapply makeup after the veil.

Go to Shop>Find a Look> How To and click on Mineral Veil (this is located on the BE website by the way). There is a video to watch on how to apply the veil which Leslie shows on her model.

Hope this helps!

I put Mineral Veil on last, but I don't use it on my eye area. But you can certainly use it before your foundation, blush, etc. One of the best things about BareMinerals is that there aren't any hard-and-fast rules.

I usually put the mineral veil on before and after foundation, if it is put on before then it helps absorb oil. I also don't put on my eye shadow or eyeliner until after foundation and mineral veil. I do concealer touch-ups very last, I have never sen my mineral veil smudging my other make-up

Depending on how bright I want blush to show, I sometimes put on blush under the mineral veil (sometimes even under the foundation), and sometimes I put it on top.

Use the mineral viel the way it works best for you. I don't use it over eye shadow at all a--usually put the eye colors on after, unless I want to use the mineral veil above the brow area where it can give you a nice highlight! Sometimes I even mix it with my foundation.

Hey Sammi (sweetheart??) Haha I would totally die if you where! LOVE her, shes my girl! Anyways as far as mineral veil goes, I always apply mine after my makeup is complete. I, just like you can get oily & if its going to be one of those muggy, hot days I apply it before doing anything to my face & that controls any shine for the day. I do carry mine for a midday touch up, if im out & about. As far as it taking off some makeup, I had noticed that on me too. Like the answer above, I applied a heavier coat cuz I found I was applying it too lightly & I also was using a brush that was too tough & dense. I switched to my bareMinerals "Kabuki Light" brush that I got in my "Sea Yourself" kit, which is much much softer & less dense, and amazing for mineral veil. I also make sure to use a light hand so I would lightly sweep it over my face/makeup instead of pressing too hard & taking off foundation ect...I have been using bareMinerals for 6yrs now & have more BE products than I know what to do with & after a few years I actually realized I was applying too much foundation & I think that was also part of my problem too. Too much foundation, too little mineral veil. Not that you do that but thats what was part of my problem. Doing those changes & steps completely stopped the issue I was having with it. I noticed you asked this a bit ago so you may have already resolved it but I wanted to leave my experience with the same thing incase you havent or if anyone else may have the dame issue as us & read it & need a few tips. I noticed you live in the same town as Sammi Sweetheart & fit every little description of her right down to the glasses! So I totally have my hopes up on that one! LOL. Take care...xoxo Misti

I put the mineral veil on after my foundation, and then use the warmth all over my face. I put my eyeshadow on last. I hope this helps. The mineral veil shouldn't take off your foundation and such-maybe you need to use more mineral veil so that the brush is fully covered with it so that when you use it, it's not taking off the foundation etc.

Hi there!

I think the most important thing with any makeup is to experiment and find out what works for you. So, yes, I would absolutely try putting Mineral Veil on after your foundation but before applying other products. It may work perfectly for you. Personally, I put it on first (after the primer, but before anything else), and last. I don't know why it would be smearing your other makeup. I've never had that happen. Hmmm... Mineral Veil does set your makeup really well, so it'd be nice if you could put some on very last. Maybe try dusting it on really, really lightly, or call or email customer service and see if they have any tips? Maybe you could try a different brush? Good luck!

Well, from what I see on the Foundation Finder since you're in the beige skin tone category, I would try bareMinerals READY Mineral Veil in Tinted. See if any of your local stores that sell BE products has them before you make the trip there. This way you can get it right away without waiting! I went to my local store that carries this product and they have the Mineral Veil in both colors on display and also the bareMinerals READY Bronzer. I have a Golden Dark skin tone and I use Tinted Veil and IF I decide to get a Bronzer, I would get The High Dive, which actually may be a good Bronzer for your skin tone as well.

If all else fails, I would contact a BE rep. They are so helpful. Did you know that for years I thought my skin tone was Medium Deep and it was actually Golden Dark?? You can imagine my shock lol. Thanks to a BE rep, I have been on the right track...finally....after 5 years of having the wrong shade (I was matched by a beauty consultant 5 years ago and we both even agreed I was a medium deep but as time went on I guess I became more golden lol).

If you just want to LOOK like you have foundation on, I would apply Skin Rev-er Upper to fill in pores and smooth out your face. Add concealer to areas you want to cover. Next, you can use one of the many All Over Face Colors available to bring a subtle color into your face and then I would use a light dusting of the veil. I have YET to try what I just told you, but the Skin Rev-er upper is like pressing on the gas pedal of a car to help warm it up before you drive lol.

All Over Face Color brings color to not just your face, but your eyes, cheeks and lips....yes, the lips. I was puzzled about this so I asked a BE rep and she told me to use a lip balm (NOT the gloss...I tried it and I did not get the desired effect I was after lol!). So I bought a simple balm at the store, or you can get the Buxom Lip Balm if you want to stick to bareMinerals and their affiliate products. What I did was take my index finger and put just a little of the Warmth (my all over face color I have in my arsenal of products) and in a circular motion I mixed it into the tip of my lip balm that I bought.

You mix clockwise until the powder then becomes a creamy color as if it has become one with the balm itself. Then you apply it to your lips. It's pretty :-) the BE rep told me rose radiance will be nice and I'm SERIOUSLY wanting to get it because it does look amazing just in the jar lol.

I like using Skin Rev-er Upper at night or the Active Night Serum. After a week of using BE products, I think I removed a year of stress off of my face.

Mineral Veil can be worn alone or over your foundation. You can wear Original or Tinted. The tint is very light, so it works well on most everyone.

I would recommend the Tinted Mineral Veil if you want to skip putting on foundation and just have a soft finish on your skin. Since you are in the Medium color family for foundation the Tinted Mineral Veil will also work great for you as a finishing powder if you have any days you want to wear foundation. The Tinted Mineral Veil adds just the slightest hint of a healthy, warm glow to the skin.

The Original Mineral Veil will go best with your skin color. If you want a little bit of a lighter, softer veil you could also use the Illuminating Mineral Veil (which also has a slight shimmer to it). I do a sweep of Mineral Veil over my face before applying any makeup (to have a good base for the makeup to hold onto). I also do a sweep over my face after applying my foundation and concealer (to lock them in). Lastly I do a sweep over my face after I am done applying all my makeup (to set it and make it last longer).

I would use the original shade of mineral veil! You just tap it in the lid, swirl it around with your brush, tap it on the lid, and apply to your face in a circular motion. Use the mineral veil last because it is used to set everything in and keep your foundation and blush lasting longer!!

The Buff & Go Brush is designed for the mineral veil. For ME though...I would want to use this for foundation so I plan on using it for that versus the mineral veil.

I would suggest the Soft Focus Face Brush (VERY soft and will deliver coverage, but with a soft, sheer approach) or the Flawless Application Brush (made of goat hair like most of the brushes by BE and will evenly veil your face).

Well the one that comes in the Customizable Kit that I bought 5 years ago had a medium size container of the Original Mineral Veil. It was 0.07 oz. Not sure of the large one though. Hope this helps a little. Usually the products show how much product it has once you get it or you can go to your local store to see the product for yourself. OR contact a BE rep.

I think the Tinted veil would look beautiful on you. Just remember to use it in moderation. Veil is only meant to lock in your look for the day while reducing, if not eliminating, facial obstacles like lines, blemishes and wrinkles.

Check out the md formulations on the BE website. They have items to help skin that you can use on the days that you don't wear makeup and help better your skin! The Facial Cleanser and the Moisture Defense are awesome for my combo skin!

Buff & Go Brush - good for those on the go days where you just need to freshen up
Flawless Application Brush - Good for dusting JUST the right amount to your face

Full Flawless Face Brush - Good for fast application of Foundation to your entire face
Angled Blush Brush - Great for fast application of your favorite blushes

Max Coverage Concealer Brush - I use this for the dark circles under my eyes and actually the darkness I get on the bridge of my nose, but close to the innermost corner of my eye lol. You CAN get dark there. This brush has really helped. I have Golden Dark skin and I use the Dark Bisque concealer color.

Handy Buki Brush - I like using this for my foundation actually. It helps me have a little more of a concentrated dose of foundation to my face.
Multi-tasking brush - This isn't my FAVORITE, fav brush. BUT, I would take this traveling with me or to the hotel if I need to just lightly freshen up a little. Same applies to the Handy Buki Brush, but I like the Buki Brush versus the Multi-tasking brush lol.

Wet/Dry Eyeshadow Brush - I love this because you can do the Foiled Eye look with the right ingredients needed. On the BE website, go to Shop>Find a Look and then you should be able to navigate further to see how to get other looks. It's a great place to go. Also, I would suggest going to Experience>Color Addiction where they show you different colors and what two other colors can compliment it. You even get the option to add all three eyecolor shades to your bag and purchase them if all three look good to you!

For my skin tone, the mineral veil, which I have in tinted by the bareMinerals READY collection, covers up a lot of my speed bumps on my face and blemishes. you don't want too little that it doesn't lock in your look and you don't want too much because then you will look too light. The key is to look as natural as you can and bareMinerals delivers that. Mineral Veil is meant to have a sheer coverage over your overall makeup. That's why you hardly notice it.

What I would do, to try and understand it's purpose, clean your face. Take a picture. Then, just use the mineral veil or you can use concealer on places you want to conceal on your face and then use mineral veil only. Take a picture and look at the comparison.

Lines, blemishes and wrinkles are three of the things that mineral veil helps to minimize or completely eliminate in your overall look.
