I have green eyes and want to know what "look" is best for green eyes?

I have always been told that plum colors are best for green eyes. But I am seeing that it really seems too dark on my at this stage in my life. It seems that lighter colors are really making my eyes "pop" and giving me a younger look? That's what I'm being told by others when I am wearing the lighter colors...
