Questions & Answers for bareMinerals READY Eyeshadow 8.0 - The Star Treatment with bonus mini Prime Time Eyelid Primer
Question
Do these shadows have a pearlization in them or are they matte?
Being 57, I find that matte shadows look better on me. Are the shadows in this kit pearlized or luminized? or are they matte? I also would like to see more reviews from women in their 50's or 60's who use Bare Escentual products. I have used them since the first show on QVC, as do my sisters and nieces now and we love the products. I just would like to see more reviews from women in my age group. Again, we love, love, love the products. I just prefer NOT to use any products with a pearlized look...in the evening sometimes I will use something luminized but for my day look, I ALWAYS choose a matte finish which is why I have questions about this product. Thanks for any responses!

None of the shadows in this palette are completely matte. The black shadow, "VIP" only has a very tiny amount of gold flecks and "Carte Blanche" is just slightly shimmery. All the rest have quite a bit of shimmer. They are pretty colors but probably more shimmer and sparkle than you want :-) See the attached picture of swatches I did on my skin. Hope that helps!

This particular set- The StarTreatment is all pearlized!!! Do not buy this particular palette if you are looking for less shimmer. Not one highlight or crease color is matte. I would suggest looking at them in person at a B.E., Ulta, or Sephora first.

I'm 27 (sorry I'm not the age group you were looking for) but I look older than my age and battle with dark circles and have a 3 year old. Plus I used to have a work schedule that would start at 4:30am, so I can understand a little bit about not wanting anything too gaudy or outrageous on the eyes. I like Matte too. It blends well and shows subtly which I like. There USED to be a link that was a color wheel on the BE website that showed which loose mineral eye colors are Matte, which are Solid and which are Shimmer I think. I can't seem to find it, but if you ever want a different look or try something out, here is a link for Tips and Advice: http://www.bareescentuals.com/on/demandware.store/Sites-BareEscentuals-Site/default/Experience-Show?cgid=BE_SUB_TIPSANDADVICE
This might help you out. I usually go by the instructions inside of a 2.0, 4.0 or 8.0 READY eye color palette set or I do my favorite color blocking to show the contrast and gradients between colors. I'm really able to show that off with the 2.0 palette. Not sure? Check a local place that sells the makeup such as a dept. store or boutique and see what colors work for you. I have found that a MAJORITY of READY eye colors are Matte so you may want to try it out. Go for the duos since it's just a couple colors before stepping it up to the 4.0 and 8.0 sets.

Some of the duo eye shadows are highly pearlized and even have lot of glitter. However I did see some that are matte, or have one matte shade and one shade that is slightly luminescent. The Nick of Time has a lighter color that is slightly luminous in an attractive way and the the darker color is matte. I purchased this because I don't not like sparkly eye shadow at all. I may not be in my 50's BUT I'm a nurse so I don't need to go to work with glitter on my eyes!

Question
Is this a good palette for eyeshadow beginners?
I am new to the eyeshadow world and I'm not super great yet at blending or putting looks together. Is this a good palette to start out with - and how goof proof is it?

This would be a great palette for all eyeshadow levels....beginner to pro. Because most of the colors are shimmery, they are really easy to blend. The only color I found to be a bit difficult to put into a "look" was "Connoisseur". Otherwise the rest work pretty well together. The black shadow, "VIP" is a great one to smudge along the lash line for your liner, making lining your eyes pretty goof proof too :-) Attached are a couple of looks I did with this palette. I've listed the eyeshadow names in the caption below each picture. Hope this is helpful!

I would start with something a little different. The black in this is very dramatic and the other colours do not show up so well. For a beginner I would start with an all brown pallet, no black. If you mess up with black you have to start your whole eye make up over again. I would try three of the small loose shadows until you get it down. The small shadows have a lot of shadow in them and their pigment is very true.
