Here's a good rule of thumb I've personally used for many years for make-up and clothing: Do you look good in pure white? If so, go with "cool" colors. If you look better in cream or off-white, go with "warm" colors. You can also take a coral lipstick and a pink lipstick and compare it to your skin (somewhere where it is natural, no make-up or tan). If it more closely resembles the pink, you have "pink" skin undertones ("cool"), if it more closely resembles the coral, you have "yellow" undertones ("warm").

Now, if you are a "cool" person, does that mean you can't wear "warm" colors (and vice versa)? Of course not! Just try to use them in conjunction with some of your "cool" shades. Many people think the color argument is silly, but I'm personally a big believer in it. I honestly feel that if you have on the proper colors for your skin tone, it makes a huge difference to how you look.

Good luck, and don't forget to experiment & have fun!

If youre trying to decide on foundation, your best bet would be to go to a store (if there is one near you) and have them color match you. That is what I did, and the color was perfect. I think I might have to invest in a darker color for the summer months, but they do a great job in the store.

If youre talking about shadow, I would start with a color that looks like something you already have and work outwards from there. You can also go under the Experience tab and click on "color addiction" which will let you choose a color and will show you two other colors that match it. I use that tool all the time when Im deciding on a new color to buy. I always pick a color I already have and it shows me two colors that match so I have an idea of where to start.

Question

Which blush shade is closest to coral, with less pink-vintage peach or golden gate? Or other?

I am half Asian with medium skin and yellow undertones and I'm looking for a coral-colored blush.. I'm currently using True in combination with Tarte's Amazonian clay blush in Tipsy and find that Tipsy's color (coral/orange) really makes my skin pop and glow. But I much prefer BE's long wear as well as coverage and 'setting'. Is there a BE blush that is close to a coral/orange? I've read different reviews of golden gate and vintage peach, many describe both as 'peachy pink' or similar to Nars Org. which I also have. Would like to lean away from pinkish hues and more towards coral for my next purchase. Can you recommend a closest match?

See if you can find Vintage Pearl. It looks great on our sort of skin tone! I also tried vintage peach and golden gate. I like them both, but the golden gate sort of looks more bronzy. I really liked the vintage peach.

I think the Vintage Peach would be great for your skin tone. It is more of a peach but not "pinkish." I know what you mean and I do not like the pinky ones either. I have pink undertones and they only make my face more pale. Go with Vintage Peach. :)
