I asked customer service this question through the website after reading the other answers here. (I also got the hydrating mineral veil and have only the normal brushes--and didn't want to spend money on more brushes right now.) Here's the answer I got from a customer service person: "You can definitely use your normal brushes with the Hydrating Mineral Veil; the hydrating properties arise from the water bound into the formula and not the brush." There seems to be no hesitation or attempt to push the "Hydrate and Brighten" brush, so I don't think the hydrating mineral veil needs it for any reason.

Hi, Shellbelle - You DO need to use the (white) brush specifically made for the hydrating mineral veil for it to work properly. The Hydrating MV has has moisture molecules that 'pop' and lose their hydration if you use a brush made with real hair. The white MV brush is synthetic & will not change the structure of the molecules. It is also manufactured so the bristles are varying lengths to pick up the MV . Non-BE brushes are usually not made to pick up & distribute their products, so it's important to use BE brushes with BE products. Good luck!

Supposedly anything other than the brush designed for it is too rough to use with this product, and will in some way damage the product and prevent it from hydrating. I'm a little skeptical, but the brush designed for this product is incredibly soft and perfect for all mineral veils. I'd say it's worth picking up, just to be safe.
