Questions & Answers for bareMinerals Melanie: Smoky Eye READY

Question

Why should we use primer with the new eye shadows?

This look says to use eyelid primer, but wouldn't it be more beneficial to apply the shadow directly to the lid to maximize all the benefits? In the clinical studies, was primer used first?

Primer makes colors pop out more. I don't use primer, but I have used primer for my eyelids before when I used to use Smashbox. Bare Escentuals 100% trumps Smashbox without a doubt. If I use primer, I think my colors would pop out more. I have big brown eyes, so just putting on mascara, I get definition to my eyes. I like the Chance/Kismet bareMinerals READY eye shadow duo. I use that for my everyday look.

I would try the foiled eye look if you want to avoid spending a lot on a primer. To view different looks, go to SHOP and FIND A LOOK. There are many to try!

Hi Jo-L!

I have used nothing but Ready shadow since it came out, so I thought I might be able to help you out. I have tried Ready shadows with and without primer. Although the shadow is such high quality that you can wear it without primer, primer does make a huge difference. With primer, the color saturation you get is much more intense, but you can layer it, so you have complete control over how intense the color turns out.

My favorite reason to use primer, however, is that it makes the shadow virtually "bullet proof." I constantly rub my eyes, whether I am wearing shadow or not. When I use the Ready eye shadow with primer, it dosen't rub off!
